At least "21 people" killed in bus and fuel tanker accident near Natanz

Reports indicate that "21 people" were killed and at least 20 injured in a collision between a bus and a fuel tanker near Natanz.

Pir Hossein Kolivand, head of the country's emergency services, said: "The bus hit the tanker from behind and the fire is extensive; the search for bodies is ongoing."

This is while the Red Crescent Rescue and Relief Agency has announced: 47 people have been reported injured in the accident involving a Tehran-Kerman bus and a fuel tanker. 21 people have died in the accident. 26 people have also been injured.

According to IRNA, the accident occurred at 11:14 p.m. on Monday, September 16, at kilometer 25 of the Kashan-Natanz road.

It is said that this bus belonged to the Haft Cooperative and was traveling from Tehran to Kerman.

According to the report, the bus overturned and caught fire in the opposite lane after colliding with the tanker.

IRNA says that emergency medical services, the Red Crescent, firefighters, and police forces have arrived at the scene of the incident and are securing the area and transporting the injured to regional medical centers.

Officials have not yet announced the exact number of people killed in the incident.

In July of this year, "at least 13" people were killed in a fuel tanker accident with a passenger bus in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province.

Iran is one of the world's most accident-prone countries in terms of driving. According to a report published by the Central Insurance Research Institute of Iran, among 190 countries in the world, Iran has the highest road fatality rate after the African country of Sierra Leone.
