At National Prayer Breakfast, Trump vows to protect people of faith

President Donald Trump vowed on Thursday to always protect people of faith and praised their role in American life.
“As president, I will always honor and protect people of faith who elevate our communities and sustain our country,” Trump told hundreds of attendees at the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.
This religious ceremony is held on the first Thursday of February and is attended by senior officials.
"I will never let you down," the US president told religious leaders, members of his cabinet, and senior Republican and Democratic lawmakers, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose party is leading multiple investigations into Trump and his administration.
"We must build a culture that values the dignity and sanctity of pure human life," Trump said in his annual report to Congress two days after calling for legislation to end abortion in the final months of pregnancy. "All children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God. Every life is sacred in itself, and every soul is a precious gift from heaven."
The US leader said, "When we let faith into our hearts, we fill our hearts with love."
Trump concluded his short speech with this prayer: “Let us pray for the future of our country, for the courage to pursue justice and the wisdom to bring peace. Let us pray for a future where every child has a warm, safe, and loving home. Let us unite for the good of our people, for the strength of our families, for the safety of our citizens, for the realization of our deepest hopes and highest potential.”
