At least 811,000 Iranians will be infected with coronavirus by the end of May

According to a report prepared by the Ministry of Health's Epidemiology Analysis Working Group, depending on the level of quarantine and isolation, between 811,000 and 1.16 million Iranians will be infected with the coronavirus by the end of May this year.
According to this report, the results of which were published in the Shargh newspaper, the Ministry of Health's Epidemiology Analysis Working Group has concluded that if no effective medicine or vaccine is found, about 63% of Iranians will eventually become infected with the coronavirus.
The working group, which prepared its studies with the help of Iranian medical and non-medical universities, has considered three scenarios based on the level of quarantine. The best scenario, which has also been approved by the Corona Response Management Headquarters, is that if the level of isolation (preventing contact between infected and suspected infected people) reaches 40 percent, the total number of infected people in the country by the end of May will be 811,000 and in Tehran 159,000. In this case, the number of deaths will also be about 6,030.
The worst-case scenario is that if the isolation level is set at 25%, the total number of infected people in the country by the end of May this year will be 1,160,000, and in Tehran 245,000. In this case, the total number of deaths will be 13,450.
Considering the best scenario for Iran comes at a time when the Islamic Republic's officials have refrained from implementing quarantine and coercive policies (as has been implemented in some countries), and citizens in some cities have gone on group trips or participated in group programs such as funerals without following the advice of experts.
The widespread spread of the coronavirus in Iran has now become a crisis that, on the one hand, raises concerns about concealment in announcing the real statistics and, on the other hand, mismanagement of the situation has made it difficult for the people. Insufficient medical equipment and even standard infrastructure have also caused problems in the treatment process in Iran. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had previously said that he had officially offered Iran assistance and hoped that Iran would accept it.
On Monday, April 25, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in a statement titled "Khamenei's Lies About the Wuhan Virus Are Putting Lives at Risk," made statements about the Iranian regime's lies and cover-ups regarding the coronavirus.
“The lies of [Islamic Republic] Leader Khamenei about the Wuhan virus are dangerous and put Iranians and people around the world at greater risk. Facts matter,” Mr. Pompeo’s statement said.
