Pensioners hold protest rally in Iran on Social Security Day

A group of retirees gathered in front of the Ministry of Labor on Social Security Day to protest the failure to address their demands.
Pensioners have once again held a protest rally on Tuesday, July 15, despite the fact that their demands have not been met despite holding several rallies.
These gatherings, which have become more prominent since late 2018, have continued in recent months. The Iranian Pensioners Council, in a statement announcing that the gathering was held to coincide with Social Security Day, wrote, “What is left of social security for retirees except a name and title?
"Along with these deprivations, there is a record of embezzlement of thousands of billions, which, along with sanctions, has left a devastated and plowed-up economy in the hands of us, retirees and salary earners."
The retired protesters, shouting slogans, condemned all this atrocity, astronomical salaries, public misery, imprisonment, and threats against activists, and demanded employment insurance and the return of management of pension funds to the retirees themselves.
These protest rallies by retirees from various professions, including educators, come at a time when, following recent price increases, the number of economic corruption cases, some of whose defendants include well-known officials and individuals, has increased in Iran.
