Britain votes in favor of placing the IRGC on the terrorist list

According to reports published in the British House of Commons session, the Revolutionary Guard Corps is set to be officially designated as a terrorist group by the British government.

A news story that was published on social media a few days ago was a request from people to use #IRGCterrorist to convince governments to put the IRGC on the terrorist list. The number of these hashtags has now crossed the four and a half million mark.

In recent weeks, the German government has raised the issue of including the IRGC in the list of terrorist organizations, and France has not rejected the proposal. Now, the United Kingdom has also decided to include the IRGC in the list of terrorist organizations.

According to the Telegraph newspaper: "Both Security Minister Tom Tugendhat and Home Secretary Suela Braverman have backed the move and it is expected to be officially announced within the next few weeks."

The Telegraph writer also believes that Britain's move to put the IRGC on the terrorist list is a significant political tightening that could halt nuclear negotiations with Iran.

A group of Iranians have also started an online petition calling for the closure of Islamic centers in Britain affiliated with the Islamic Republic in London. According to Iran International, nearly 20,000 people have signed the petition so far.

British MPs also called on the government to work with its international partners to impose sanctions on those involved in the repression, killing, and execution of protesters in Iran.
