Biography of Reverend Vervier Avanzian

Brother Vervier Avansian was born in Tehran in 1952 to an Armenian family. He spent his entire life in this city. After completing his primary education, he completed his secondary education at the Armenian “Kosheh” High School.

From then on, as a young man who loved the arts and grew up in an artistic family, especially his father, who was a traditional instrument player, he quickly revealed his God-given talents in this field.

As a result, he turned to singing and playing music at a young age and worked in this profession for many years. During this period of his life, he was known as a famous and popular singer in the Armenian community of Iran and released numerous songs and albums.

In the meantime, and simultaneously with his artistic activities, he became involved in difficult and bitter experiences and fell into the trap of addiction.

It was at this point in his life that, in 1978, he heard the gospel of God's word from his sister and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

With his new birth into the divine family, his new life began to be recreated and revived. This extraordinary event set him on a new path and a glorious service in the kingdom of God, and became a source of lasting fruit for the church of God in Iran.

Brother Vervier Avanesyan was united in marriage with sister Rima Margosyan in 1982.
One of the fruits of this blessed marriage is having three beautiful and loving children, two daughters named Melanie and Raisa, and a son named Steve, all three of whom are also active in the fields of music and art.

Brother Vervier Avansian, after marrying a worthy and virtuous wife, who was also skilled in artistic works, especially painting, and beginning a family life together in the vast plain of the Kingdom of Heaven, accelerated his sacred services from the very beginning.
He composed many Christian hymns and spiritual songs in both Persian and Armenian, inspired by the Word of God and the Spirit of God. These works have been sung and played in Iranian churches for many years.

Another of his valuable and lasting services in the Iranian church was the growth and development of church worship in a high quality and order. He created and led choirs. For many years, he organized concerts of spiritual songs and performed them on the pulpit in various churches.

Brother Vervier Avansian himself was the main singer and host of all the above worship programs.
In this area of ​​service, they also made extensive efforts and activities by organizing classes and providing various lessons, especially for young people and those interested.

Rev. Rev. Avancean has also performed brilliant services in evangelistic and pastoral services in the Congregational Church of Iran. First, he was responsible for the couples in the Central Congregational Church and also performed commendable service in the worship service. He then collaborated and assisted Rev. Leon Hayrapetyan in the church's spiritual services in the Majidieh district church of Tehran.

Gradually, after years of fruitful service in various fields, he was appointed as the pastor of the Congregational Church in the Narmak area of ​​Tehran. He provided his blessed and gracious service to his sisters and brothers there for 9 continuous years.
This blessed brother continued his ministry among Persian-speaking people in the final years of his earthly life, after which he was arrested and detained for a while. But even after that, he did not stop his ministry!…

Pastor Vervier Avanzian left his earthly life on the morning of Wednesday, November 29, 2017, following a chronic illness, and joined the saints in heaven.
May his memory be cherished, his soul be happy, and his path be filled with travelers. Amen.
