Spokesperson for the Food and Drug Administration of Iran: Corona vaccine is not mandatory at this time

A spokesperson for the Food and Drug Administration of Iran says that the coronavirus vaccine is not currently mandatory, but it is likely that in the future, as vaccination expands, providing some social services to people will require a vaccination certificate.

Kianoush Jahanpour announced on Wednesday, March 26, that given the movement inside and outside the country and the need to control society and prevent the virus from circulating in society, it is natural that such conditions would arise, and that people who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus will be subject to a series of restrictions.

Mr. Jahanpour's warning about the consequences of not receiving the coronavirus vaccine comes at a time when the Islamic Republic of Iran has one of the weakest performances in terms of vaccine supply, and the Leader of the Islamic Republic has banned the import of vaccines produced in the United States and Britain into the country.

Meanwhile, the spread of a mutated coronavirus in Iran, a type first observed in Britain, has also fueled concerns, and Iranian officials have announced the start of a "fourth wave of the coronavirus outbreak" in some provinces, especially Khuzestan.

According to official statistics, about 1.6 million people in the country have been infected with coronavirus so far, and nearly 60,000 people have died from the virus.

This statistic is being announced while the Iranian Medical System Organization had previously estimated the actual number of coronavirus victims in Iran to be 3 to 4 times the official figure, and the statistics from the Civil Registration Organization also confirmed this. However, despite more than two months having passed since autumn, this organization has not yet published the death statistics for the entire country this season.

Mr. Jahanpour says that all imported vaccines have so far been injected into volunteers among the medical staff.
