Ehsan Khandozi's visa to attend the International Monetary Fund meeting was not received

The joint meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group is held twice a year, attended by the governors of central banks and the ministers of economy and finance of member countries.

The spring meeting is held in late April and the fall meeting is usually held in mid-October in Washington, and every three years, one of the member countries is designated as the host of the annual meeting.

The presence of banking and economic officials from different countries at this summit provides an appropriate opportunity for meetings between the heads of state and other members of delegations from different countries to increase banking and economic communication and cooperation between them.

This year, as usual, this joint meeting was held. However, for this meeting, the Iranian government delegation was not granted a visa to attend the World Bank and International Monetary Fund autumn meetings and to attend Washington. Due to the current situation in Iran and the people’s demand for a change of government, and the pressure that the Islamic Republic regime has imposed on the people, as well as the Islamic government’s refusal to accept Iran’s membership in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to combat money laundering, many countries have sanctioned members of government leaders and prevented them from entering their countries. For this reason, when Ehsan Khandozi, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, applied for a visa for the delegation to attend the joint meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, they announced that they could not grant a visa to the Islamic Republic delegation.
