Strike continues in Isfahan's Mahmoudabad Industrial Park, truck drivers' rally continues in Tehran

Protest rallies by retirees have continued in Kerman, Rasht, and Zanjan. At the same time, the strike by employees of Isfahan's Mahmoudabad Industrial Park has entered its third day. Truck drivers in Tehran and Mashhad also continued their protests for the second day.

A number of social security retirees held protest rallies in the cities of Kerman, Rasht, and Zanjan on Monday, June 20.

The retirees' rally was held to protest the failure to implement the Supreme Labor Council's wage resolution and the government's decision to increase pensions at other levels by only ten percent.

This protest rally in Zanjan was accompanied by the slogan "Death to this lawless government."

In Rasht, retired protesters chanted, "Mourning is mourning today, the homeless retiree is the one who mourns today."

On Sunday, June 19, retirees took to the streets in Rasht.

Truck drivers' protest rallies in Tehran and Mashhad

A group of truck drivers also held a protest rally for the second day on Monday, June 20, in front of the Highways Administration building on Damascus Street in Tehran. It is said that a number of protesting truck drivers had spent the previous night in front of the Highways Administration building. They chanted: “Our table is empty, the promise is enough.”

Social media reported that a large number of police officers and security forces known as "plain clothes" were present on Damascus Street in Tehran.

Also, drivers of the Negin Pakhsh Company in Mashhad stopped working and went on strike on Monday morning, June 20. These drivers are protesting the low wages they receive for transporting cargo and the high cost of spare parts and fuel.

Negin Pakhsh Mashhad Company is located in the “Shahrek Imam Hadi” neighborhood of the city and is a center for providing services related to the agricultural and livestock industry. With the high price of fuel and its restrictions, and the high cost of parts and spare parts, the drivers of this company are no longer able to work with the previous wages.

It is also reported that on the third day of the nationwide strike in the Mahmudabad Industrial Park, the factories in the complex have been closed and loading has stopped. The strike began on Saturday, June 19.

It is said that workers from the Najafabad, Rezvanshahr, Meimeh Industrial Park, Dowlatabad, and Khomeinishahr stone quarries have also joined the strikes of workers and employees from Mahmoudabad.

Mahmoudabad Industrial Park in Isfahan is known as the “stone hub of Iran.” Every day, 3,000 trucks are declared for loading for the entire country. Every day, 5,000 trailers carrying stone from the quarries are dispatched to this park.

There are about 2,000 stone-cutting factories in this industrial town that produce dozens of types of building stone for the entire country, especially Tehran.

It is said that about 300,000 workers employed in this industrial park have stopped working.

The workers say they will continue the strike until all their demands are met. According to a striking worker, from July 1, truck traffic will also be prevented from using the streets of the town.
