Continued Strike in Mahmmoudabad Industrial Park Isfahan, Ongoing Truck Drivers’ Gathering in Tehran

Protest gatherings of retirees in Kerman, Rasht, and Zanjan have continued. Simultaneously, the strike of workers at Mahmmoudabad Industrial Park in Isfahan entered its third day. Truck drivers in Tehran and Mashhad also continued their protests on the second day.

A number of social security retirees gathered in protest on Monday, June 20 (June 30 in the Persian calendar) in the cities of Kerman, Rasht, and Zanjan.

The retirees’ gathering was held in protest against the non-implementation of the Supreme Labor Council’s wage resolution and the government’s decision to increase pensions by only ten percent for other levels.

This protest gathering in Zanjan was accompanied by the slogan “Death to this lawbreaking government.”

In Rasht, retired protesters chanted “Today is mourning, mourning; today the helpless retiree is the one in mourning.”

On Sunday, June 29 in the Persian calendar, retirees also took to the streets in Rasht.

Protest Gatherings of Truck Drivers in Tehran and Mashhad

A group of truck drivers also gathered on Monday, June 30 in the Persian calendar for the second day in front of the Road Maintenance Administration office on Damavand Street in Tehran. It is reported that some of the protesting truck drivers spent the previous night in front of the Road Administration building. They chanted: “Our table is empty, promises and threats are enough.”

On social media, it has been reported that a large number of law enforcement and security forces in plainclothes have been present on Damavand Street in Tehran.

Also, drivers of Negin Pakhsh Company in Mashhad stopped work from the morning of Monday, June 30 in the Persian calendar and went on strike. These drivers are protesting against their low wages for cargo transportation and the high prices of spare parts and fuel consumption.

Negin Pakhsh Company in Mashhad is located in the “Imam Hadi District” of the city and is a center providing services related to agriculture and livestock industries. With the rise in fuel prices and their shortages and the high cost of parts and spare parts, the drivers of this company are no longer able to work at their previous wages.

Strike of Workers at Mahmmoudabad Industrial Park Isfahan

It has also been reported that on the third day of the widespread strike at Mahmmoudabad Industrial Park, factories in this complex are closed and loading operations have stopped. The strike began on Saturday, June 28 in the Persian calendar.

It is said that stone crushing workers from Najafabad, Rezvanshahr, Meymeh Industrial Park, Dolatabad, and Khomeinishahr have also joined the strike of Mahmmoudabad workers and employees.

Mahmmoudabad Industrial Park in Isfahan is considered “Iran’s Stone Pole.” Every day, 3,000 trucks are declared to be loaded for the entire country. Daily, 5,000 trailers carrying stone are sent from stone mines to this park.

In this industrial park, there are approximately 2,000 stone crushing factories that produce dozens of types of building stones for the entire country, especially Tehran.

It is said that approximately 300,000 workers employed in this industrial park have stopped work.

Workers say they will continue the strike until all their demands are met. According to one striking worker, from July 1st, the movement of trailers on the park’s streets will also be blocked.
