The defendants in the "Ekbatan Town" case were sentenced to death.

Branch 13 of Tehran's Criminal Court 1 sentenced the defendants in the "Ekbatan Town" case to death.

During the nationwide "Women, Life, Freedom" protests that took place in 1401, Basij soldier Arman Alivardi was killed in November in the Ekbatan neighborhood of Tehran. Following this incident, security officers arrested 50 young people living in the neighborhood.

After arresting these individuals, the Islamic Republic's judiciary issued indictments for 14 of them, with 4 defendants charged with "moharebeh." Other charges against the individuals in this case included "participation in premeditated murder" and "disturbing public order and peace."

Before the last court hearing of these individuals, some human rights organizations had reported torture and ill-treatment of the defendants in this case, and many civil and political activists had also warned about the possibility of issuing death sentences against the defendants in the aforementioned case.

After the deficiencies were resolved in September of this year, the case of "Mohammad Mehdi Hosseini", "Mehdi Imani", "Milad Armon", and "Navid Najaran" was sent to Branch 13 of Tehran Criminal Court One, and another part of it was sent to Branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court, headed by Abolghasem Salavati.

"Payam Darfashan" Hossein Nemati's lawyer announced 10 days ago (November 4), that after the last court session, the bail order for his client and three other defendants in the case, Alireza Barmarzpournak, Alireza Kafaei, and Amir Mohammad Khosh-ekhbal, was unexpectedly converted into an arrest order.

Attorney Babak Paknia, who represented some of these defendants, wrote on the X social network this morning, Wednesday, November 13: "Branch 13 of Tehran's Criminal Court 1 has sentenced Milad Armoon, Alireza Kafaei, Amir Mohammad Khosh-ekhbal, Navid Najjaran, Hossein Nemati, and Alireza Barmarzpournak to self-retribution." He added that this verdict is subject to appeal.

The death sentence was issued against these defendants despite their lawyers, political activists, and human rights activists stating that their case contained numerous contradictions and that the basic rights of these individuals were not respected at various stages of the trial.
