Mohammad Nourizad was “returned to prison unconscious”

Political prisoner Mohammad Nourizad informed his wife in a phone call that he had been transferred to the hospital, but due to the lack of a specialist doctor, he was returned to prison without examination and in a semi-anesthesia state.

Mohammad Nourizad, a political activist and critic of the Islamic Republic's leader who is currently in prison, told his wife in a phone call that on Tuesday, September 15, he was taken out of prison in a car headed "probably to Taleghani Martyrs Hospital."

Accordingly, Nourizad fainted in the car due to weakness and illness. It is further alleged that when they arrived at the hospital, there was no specialist doctor and he was transferred to the Evin Prison infirmary without examination and returned to his cell after possibly being injected with serum.

In an audio file of a conversation between Nourizad and his wife, Fatemeh Maleki, published on YouTube, he tells his wife: "They sent an unconscious person back in the most cowardly way possible and brought him to the slaughterhouse of Evin Clinic. They kept me there and I don't know what they did to me, they tied my head up, they turned me around. They grabbed me by the arms and legs and threw me on my bed and left."

This political activist, who has been in prison since July 2019 for signing a petition calling for Ali Khamenei's resignation, says that Tuesday's incident means "a hospital the size of Taleghani Martyrs Hospital did not have a doctor" to examine him.

Nourizad continues: "This means a great abnormality on the level of the Supreme Leader's household, that is, a great theft and great plunder on the level of and of the kind of the Supreme Leader's household and Mojtaba Khamenei, that is, a lack of commitment towards a patient who is a trust, on the level of the thefts of [Mohammad Baqi] Qalibaf, who visits Khuzestan while he himself is a thief and his documents have been published on Google."

Fatemeh Maleki, the wife of Mohammad Nourizad, told Deutsche Welle Farsi on Wednesday, September 16: "Today, in the same state he is in, two notices have been sent to Nourizad. One notice was that he must go to court for the 'Mashhad crime.' I don't know what this Mashhad crime is that it never ends."

According to Ms. Maleki, the second notification came from Gorgan, where Nourizad had previously been sentenced to one year in prison and has now been sentenced to another three years in prison, one year of which has been commuted, but he must remain in prison for two years due to the "Gorgan case."

Fatemeh Maleki continued: "In fact, now taking him to the hospital, to the clinic, and to the Evin prison... all of this has become a kind of game. Not only has Nourizad not gotten better, his condition has gotten worse, and they are playing these psychological games on him every day."

On Sunday, August 10, 2019, Mohammad Nourizad, along with about 10 civil and political activists, gathered in front of the Mashhad Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office to protest Kamal Jafari Yazdi's 13-year prison sentence, which coincided with the appeals court hearing. All of them were arrested. Jafari Yazdi is another signatory to the letter calling for Ali Khamenei's resignation.
