People of Borazjan gathered to protest water shortage

A group of people from Borazjan in Bushehr province gathered to protest water shortages.
According to ILNA news agency, Ali Akbar Fatemi, Bushehr's representative in the Supreme Council of Provinces, announced the news on Sunday, July 21, saying that the people of Borazjan city, while gathering in the city center, also lit a fire in front of the city entrance, which led to police intervention.
In recent weeks, Borazjan citizens have been protesting against water cuts and rationing for several days in a row. As the water problem in Bushehr province worsened, the head of the Bushehr Water and Sewage Department resigned due to his inability to solve the problem.
Earlier, the cities of Khorramshahr and Abadan were also facing water cuts and salinity, which led to people holding protest rallies. These rallies later led to police intervention, clashes, and the arrest of at least 10 people.
The drought crisis, severe reduction in water resources, and drying up of Iran's lakes and rivers have intensified in recent years.
In addition to reduced rainfall, experts consider incorrect policies in water management and uncontrolled dam construction to be among the factors destroying water resources in Iran.
