A middle-aged man dies after setting himself on fire in protest in front of the Arak Labor Department

On Sunday, November 13, Iranian media reported the self-immolation of a 65-year-old man in front of the Arak Labor Department.
Reports indicate that this person set himself on fire due to the verdict issued in his dispute with his employer and died from the severity of his injuries after being taken to the hospital.
According to informed sources, the man was protesting the verdict issued by the Labor Department's dispute resolution boards (the authority for resolving disputes between workers and employers).
The Arak City Department of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare has not yet responded to this incident.
The published reports do not mention the identity of this citizen or the details of his case before the Dispute Resolution Council.
Since 2020, numerous reports of self-immolations and suicides of workers and other social groups in Iran due to increasing poverty and economic pressures have been published, including the suicide of three teachers, the self-immolation of three workers in front of the Kermanshah Road and Urban Development Department, the self-immolation that led to the death of the wife of a Dehdasht municipality worker, and the child of one of those killed in the eight-year Iran-Iraq war in Yasuj.
