US State Department: The Islamic Republic has oppressed the Iranian people for 41 years; Iranians deserve a glorious future

On the occasion of the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the US State Department published several messages on Twitter, referring to the years after the Islamic Revolution as 41 years of persecution and emphasizing that it supports the Iranian people in achieving a better future.

A message posted on the US State Department's Twitter account on Tuesday, February 12, reads: "In the 41 years since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian regime has brought nothing but terror, corruption, repression, hostage-taking, nuclear ambitions, missile launches, and 41 years of oppression to its citizens and neighbors. The Iranian people deserve a future that is worthy of their glorious past."

Another message posted on the Foreign Ministry's Twitter account read: "The Iranian people have suffered 41 years of failure under the rule of the Islamic Republic. They should not suffer this failure and disappointment for even one more year. We stand with the people for their hope for a brighter future."

The US State Department had previously pointed to widespread corruption in the Islamic Republic and strongly criticized the regime's repression of protestors, especially following the November events.
