Bahrain has been witnessing political protests by its Shia community since 2011. The majority of the population is Shia, while the government is in the hands of a Sunni family. This has fueled dissatisfaction among the country's citizens.
Bahrain's Shiite political protests have so far been suppressed with the help of Sunni countries, including Saudi Arabia.
