Railway sleeper workers protest for the second day

Workers of the Railway Traverse Company have been gathering in various cities in Iran for several days to protest the non-payment of their demands.
According to the Iranian Labor News Agency, ILNA, on Sunday, August 27, these workers protested in the cities of Neyshabur, Sabzevar, Kashmar, Zanjan, and several other cities over the non-payment of their salaries and insurance for about three months.
The protest by workers at the Railway Traverse Company began on July 18 in some cities, but according to the workers, it has not yielded any results.
Workers' union protests in the railway areas of Hormozgan, Islamshahr, Tehran, Karaj, Lorestan, Azerbaijan, Zagros, Shahrood, Damghan, and Semnan have been among the protests by Traverse Company workers in recent days.
About seven thousand workers work in the Traverse Department, which maintains and supports the railway lines.
At the same time, another rally was held in the city of Assaluyeh on Sunday in front of the deputy head of the South Pars Company, during which a group of people from Assaluyeh protested for the second time the unemployment situation in the city.
Protests against unemployment in Assaluyeh come despite the city hosting the large South Pars project and being located in a special economic zone.
Economic recession, bankruptcy of production units, and mismanagement have caused many workers to be deprived of their salaries and benefits, and unemployment is increasing day by day. In such a way that over the past year, one or more protest rallies have been held by workers almost every day.
Some reports indicate that over six thousand labor rallies have been held in the past year, mostly in protest of unpaid salaries for several months, mass layoffs, uncertainty following the transfer of factories to the private sector, and low wages.
In addition, dozens of rallies have taken place in various cities in Iran to protest against economic instability, unemployment, inflation, and rising exchange rates.
