British coronavirus reaches Hormozgan, Alborz and Gilan

Health officials in the provinces of Gilan and Hormozgan have said that patients infected with the mutated coronavirus, known as the British coronavirus, have been identified in some cities in these two provinces.

According to Fatemeh Norouzian, spokesperson for Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, two citizens living in Qeshm and Bandar Lengeh who traveled to Iran from the UAE have been infected with the British coronavirus.

Arsalan Salari, president of Guilan University of Medical Sciences, has also announced that a 70-year-old woman in the city of Manjil has died due to the mutated coronavirus.

He said that a person who traveled from Alborz Province to Gilan was the source of transmission of the mutated virus.

At the same time, Iraj Harirchi, Deputy Minister of Health, pointed out the critical situation in Khuzestan and said that the number of visitors in this province has increased from 200 people per day to 3,500 people per day.

In recent days, the outbreak of the British coronavirus in this province has caused the status of 11 cities in Khuzestan to turn red again, and "the number of infected people aged 6 to 14 has doubled."
