Discovery of an “Iranian” tunnel on the Syria-Iraq border

Israeli and American media outlets have reported the discovery of a tunnel built by Iranian forces on the Syria-Iraq border. The tunnel is said to have been built to store advanced weapons and military vehicles.
On Tuesday, November 10, Haaretz and Fox News reported that the intelligence company ImageSet International had taken satellite images showing a large tunnel at the Imam Ali military base on the Syria-Iraq border.
These reports state that the border tunnel is between four and five meters wide, but its length is unknown.
Because the ground in this area is flat and hard, experts have predicted that the tunnel will not be expanded in the future.
It is likely that the Imam Ali base tunnel was created to protect advanced weapons and large vehicles from air attacks.

Attack on Imam Ali base
The news of the construction of the "Imam Ali" base by the IRGC's Quds Force near the "Bukamal-e-Qaim" border crossing was first reported by the American network Fox News in September.
A week later, forces opposing the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria reported that drones had attacked Iranian-backed militias in eastern Syria. Some media outlets reported that Israeli drones had bombed the Imam Ali base.
According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 18 people were killed in the attack.
A few days before this attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had threatened that "Iran will not be immune anywhere" and that the Israeli army would take action against the Islamic Republic's positions "wherever necessary."
Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett also said a few days ago to officials of the Islamic Republic: "Syria will become your Vietnam."
