Pastor Marmari Emmanuel was attacked with a knife

Pastor Mar Marie Emmanuel from Australia was attacked with a knife by a young man in church.

On Monday, a teenager attacked Pastor Marmari Emmanuel with a knife in Sydney, Australia, injuring three other people in addition to the priest.

This is the second knife attack in Sydney in three days. On Saturday, April 13, six people were killed and 12 injured in a knife attack.

In response to the attack, supporters of Pastor Emmanuel gathered outside the church and demanded the attacker be handed over to them. Police arrested the attacker at the scene and kept him inside the church for a while for safety reasons.

The attack on the Australian priest took place during a service at an Assyrian church, and police, while calling it a terrorist attack, said it was likely motivated by "religious extremism." Police officials said during the investigation that followed the attack that the attacker acted alone.
