A labor activist from Sanandaj was transferred to the city's central prison.

Khalil Karimi, a member of the board of directors of the Free Union of Iranian Workers and a labor activist in Sanandaj, was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison to serve his sentence.

According to news published on social media, Khalil Karimi, a member of the board of directors of the Free Workers Union of Iran, was arrested on Monday, October 24, after visiting Branch 4 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court for the Execution of Sentences and was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison to serve his two-month prison sentence.

According to published news, on July 4, 2018, Khalil Karimi was indicted by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court on charges of "propaganda against the regime due to participation in the International Workers' Day ceremony" and "supporting the campaign No to the execution of Ramin Hossein Panahi."

The Free Union of Iranian Workers says that the hearing of Mr. Khalili's charges was held on September 9 of last year by Judge Hossein Saeedi, head of the first branch of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, and this labor activist was sentenced to one year in prison by the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court on November 16, 2018, and the verdict was communicated to him on January 1 of the same year.

According to reports published by the Free Workers Union, the one-year prison sentence issued to this labor activist was reduced to two months by Branch 4 of the Kurdistan Provincial Court of Appeal, and this sentence was communicated to this labor activist on August 2, 2019.

Nahid Khodajoo was another member of the Free Workers Union of Iran who was arrested on International Labor Day in front of the parliament along with a number of other labor activists and journalists. After 33 days of detention, she was released from Evin Prison on June 4 after posting bail until the end of the trial.

The United States has repeatedly condemned Iran's security crackdown on workers. The US State Department recently said in a message that the Islamic Republic's regime could have paid the salaries of workers in Iran with the money it spent in Syria.
