A Haft Tappeh sugarcane worker was arrested by security agents.

Reports from labor sources indicate that a Haft Tappeh sugarcane worker has been arrested by security forces.

The Telegram channel of the Campaign for the Defense of Haft Tappeh Detainees and Progressive Prisoners reported on Sunday, October 4, that Yousef Bahmani, one of the Haft Tappeh workers, had been arrested "by the Susa Security Police."

No further details about the worker's arrest have been released, but according to this Telegram channel, Mr. Bahmani was summoned to the Susa Security Police along with several other workers on the third day of the Haft Tapeh sugarcane strikes.

According to this report, security agencies also threatened a number of striking workers with repeated calls on Sunday.

Previously, the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Workers' Union reported that about 40 Haft Tappeh workers had been summoned to present themselves to the Susa Security Intelligence Police on Monday, October 29.

Haft Tappeh workers' protests began on a large scale in 2018, but were met with a security and judicial crackdown by the government. Ismail Bakhshi, a representative of Haft Tappeh workers, was among the workers who, after being arrested, stated that he had been tortured and was arrested for the second time in February of last year.

The United States has repeatedly condemned Iran's security crackdown on workers. The US State Department also said in a message that the Islamic Republic's regime could have paid the salaries of workers in Iran with the money it spent in Syria.
