"12,000 children" are malnourished in Sistan and Baluchestan province

According to a director of the Iranian Ministry of Health, 12,000 children in Sistan and Baluchestan province suffer from malnutrition.
ISNA news agency reported on Wednesday, quoting the director of the Ministry of Health's Community Nutrition Improvement Program, that "12,000 children are malnourished in Sistan and Baluchestan province."
Ahmad Ezzatian said: "Sistan and Baluchestan province has a high rate of malnutrition, so it needs more serious attention in this area."
This number of malnourished children comes despite the province having a population of under three million.
Last year, the official IRNA news agency quoted the head of the Sistan and Baluchestan Planning and Budget Organization as saying that "based on the 2016 population and housing census," the population of this province, with 19 counties, had reached 2.775 million people.
