14 Iranian military personnel kidnapped at Mirjaveh border

The Islamic Republic's official news agency, IRNA, reported on Tuesday, October 14, citing an informed source, that 14 Iranian military personnel had been "kidnapped" by "a terrorist group."

Previously, the Young Journalists Club reported in a report that it deleted an hour later about the "kidnapping of Basij forces from the Security Plan and the Mirjaveh Border Regiment... by members of the terrorist group Jaish al-Zalm."

A number of media outlets inside Iran, citing some Islamic Republic officials, call the Army of Justice group "Army of Injustice."

The Islamic Republic considers this group to be terrorist.

No Iranian official has yet commented on this matter.

The Journalists' Club report stated: "Seven of these individuals are members of the Security Plan Basij, five members of the Mirjaveh Border Regiment, and two members of the IRGC Intelligence Force who were kidnapped between 4:00 and 5:00 AM today [Tuesday] in the Zero Zone of the Lolakdan border."

The official news agency of the Islamic Republic, IRNA, published this news without details.

The Lolakdan border zero zone belongs to the Rigmalek district of Mirjaveh County and is located 50 kilometers from Mirjaveh city.

This border area in Sistan and Baluchestan province has long been the site of numerous clashes between the Jaish al-Adl group and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Less than three months ago, news broke that two Basij forces from the "Security Project" in the Korin area of Zahedan had been killed in a clash with armed individuals.

In early July of this year, the Revolutionary Guards announced the killing of three of their own forces and three of the attackers in a clash, but the Jaish al-Adl group announced that "11" IRGC forces had been killed in the clash, but that the group's forces had not been harmed.

The Jaish al-Adl group, which has repeatedly clashed with Iranian officials in this province, taking a number of them hostage or killing them, considers itself the defender of "Sunni" in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
