According to reports, Nazanin Zaghari, an Iranian-British citizen who had traveled to Iran with her newborn daughter, was arrested last month while leaving Iran and is currently held in prison.
The Hrana website, the BBC Persian service, and the Facebook page Civil Liberties in Iran reported that Ms. Zaghari was arrested on April 5, 2016 at Tehran Airport.
These news sources state that the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps transferred Nazanin Zaghari to an undisclosed location in Kerman Province after her arrest at Tehran Airport.
According to reports and statements from Ms. Zaghari’s family, she has complained of being under pressure and says she was asked to sign documents.
Judicial authorities, the Ministry of Intelligence, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps have not released any information on this matter so far, and it is unclear what charges Nazanin Zaghari has been arrested and imprisoned for.
Nazanin Zaghari, who is married to a British national and in some reports is referred to by her full name Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe, is 37 years old and worked as a project manager at the Thomson Reuters Foundation. She has been employed at this institution since 2011.
Ms. Nazanin Zaghari began her public relations activities in 2004 with the International Red Cross in London, and subsequently worked for three years in the same position with the World Health Organization.
