Coronavirus in Iran; Three-Digit Death Toll Continues to Rise, Total Deaths Exceed 31,000

For the consecutive day, Iran’s Ministry of Health spokesperson announced on Wednesday, October 30th, the official death toll from coronavirus in Iran over the past 24 hours at more than 300 people, specifically 312 individuals.

This comes as Masoud Mardani, a member of the coronavirus task force, stated that the “actual death toll” from coronavirus in Iran is two and a half times higher than the government figures. Several domestic and international institutions also do not consider Iran’s official figures to be close to reality.

Based on today’s Health Ministry statistics, so far 31,346 coronavirus patients have lost their lives.

The death toll from coronavirus in Iran exceeded 30,000 last Saturday, but reaching 31,000 took only four more days.

According to Sima Lari, in the past 24 hours, 5,616 new COVID-19 patients have been identified in various Iranian cities, bringing the total number of infected individuals to 545,286.

The Health Ministry spokesperson announced the number of patients in “severe condition” as 4,861 people.

Meanwhile, a Tehran City Council member on Wednesday, October 30th, reported the burial of 160 people at Behesht-e Zahra cemetery on Monday of this week due to coronavirus, saying: “Tehran’s situation regarding coronavirus has become dangerous and the city needs to be shut down.”

The Deputy Planning and Supervision of the coronavirus response command center in Tehran, taking the problem of hospitalization of new coronavirus patients seriously, announced the possibility of using “field hospital” capacity if conditions become more critical.

According to Iran’s Health Ministry spokesperson, the provinces of Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, East Azerbaijan, South Khorasan, Semnan, Qazvin, Lorestan, Ardabil, Khuzestan, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Gilan, Bushehr, Zanjan, Ilam, Razavi Khorasan, Mazandaran, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Alborz, West Azerbaijan, Central, Kerman, North Khorasan, Hamadan, Yazd, and Kurdistan are in “red” status.

Hormozgan, Fars, Golestan, and Sistan and Baluchestan provinces are in “orange” and “yellow” status.

The confirmed number of coronavirus patients worldwide on Sunday, October 27th, exceeded 40 million, and the death toll has reached more than 1,115,000 people.

India, the United States, Europe, and South America lead in daily coronavirus cases. In the Middle East, Iran is the record holder.
