Knife Attack in Turku, Finland Leaves 2 Dead and 6 Wounded

An armed man with a knife injured 8 people in the center of Turku in southwestern Finland. According to hospital officials in Turku, two of the wounded have died. Police shot and wounded the attacker and subsequently arrested him.
According to Finnish police, an armed man with a knife injured several people in the center of Turku on Friday (August 18/Mordad 27). According to Finnish media reports, two people have died as a result of their injuries. Finnish security authorities announced the arrest of the attacker.
According to Finnish police, officers were forced to shoot at the attacker’s legs in order to apprehend him. Police asked people to evacuate the center of Turku. According to reports, gunshots were heard several times. Turku is located in southwestern Finland and has a population of approximately 190,000 people.
According to eyewitnesses, the attacker wielded a large knife and attacked passersby. In this attack, at least five women are among the wounded. Hospital officials to whom the wounded were transferred announced that 2 people were killed and 6 were injured in the attack.
The attacker’s identity has not yet been released by police. According to Finnish police, the attacker had no accomplices and carried out this deadly attack alone.
Security measures in the city of Helsinki, the capital of Finland, have also been increased, particularly at the city’s airport.
