Road Traffic Fatalities in Iran Increase by 16 Percent

The Forensic Medicine Organization reported a 16 percent increase in road traffic fatalities during the first four months of this year compared to the same period last year.

The Forensic Medicine Organization announced that the number of deaths from traffic accidents until July of the current year exceeded 5,600 people compared to approximately 4,800 people during the same period last year.

According to this report, so far three provinces—Fars, Sistan and Baluchestan, and Razavi Khorasan—have had the highest number of fatalities, while Qom, Ilam, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces have had the lowest statistics for road accident deaths.

Road accidents in Iran last year resulted in more than 15,000 deaths and nearly 277,000 injuries.
