Arian Tabatabaei, Iranian-American researcher, joins the US State Department team

Arian Tabatabaei, an Iranian-American researcher in the field of political science, announced in a tweet on Wednesday, February 10, that he has joined the US State Department team.

Ms. Tabatabaei is a researcher at the RAND Corporation and director and professor of security studies at Georgetown University.

He has said that he will serve as a senior advisor to the Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security at the U.S. Department of State.

Ms. Tabatabaei is a graduate of King's College London and the daughter of Seyyed Javad Tabatabaei, a professor at the University of Tehran and a researcher in the fields of philosophy, history, and politics.

He is also the author of the book "Neither Victory, Nor Defeat" about the national security strategy of the Islamic Republic, which was published in 2019.

Ms. Tabatabaei's research has focused mostly on the Middle East, especially Iran, war, and terrorism.
