Golestan Province; Abuse of a child with a disability by parents/289 cases of child abuse recorded since the beginning of the year

The deputy social welfare officer of Golestan province reported the abuse of a child with severe mental and physical disabilities by his parents. According to him, 289 cases of child abuse have been reported to Golestan province's social emergency centers since the beginning of the year.

According to HRANA news agency, citing Rokna, the deputy social welfare officer of Golestan reported that a child with severe mental and physical disabilities was being abused by his parents.

Maryam Masoumi stated in this regard: Following a report of a case of child abuse by the village headman of a village in eastern Golestan, who called 123, social emergency forces were dispatched to the relevant location.

Masoumi continued: "This child, who has severe mental and physical disabilities, was abused by his parents, who are drug users."

The deputy social welfare officer of Golestan stated: Social emergency forces, in coordination with the prosecutor's office, took steps to obtain a judicial order to transfer the child, and ultimately the child was handed over to welfare centers for further action.

He also noted the number of child abuse cases reported to social centers during this year's period in Golestan Province: "Since the beginning of the year, 289 cases of child abuse have been reported to social emergency centers, which, with the arrival of experts, has led to the reduction or prevention of secondary harm to the child."
