Economic Freedom Index: Iran ranked 160th out of 165 countries in the world

A Canadian think tank on economic freedom classified Iran's economy among the world's closed economies and announced that Iran ranks 160th out of 165 countries in this regard.
In the Fraser Institute's study, only five countries—Zimbabwe, Algeria, Libya, Sudan, and Venezuela—rank lower than Iran.
According to studies by this Canadian institute, countries where less than five percent of their population has access to electricity (such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo), or are engaged in civil war (such as Yemen), or are among the poorest countries in the world (such as Burkina Faso), have a better position than Iran in terms of "economic freedom."
The Fraser Institute lists four main indicators of economic freedom: 1. Individual choice, 2. Voluntary economic exchange that takes place in the context of "markets", 3. Freedom to enter and compete in markets, and 4. Protection of individuals and their property from violence and encroachment by others.
