Nationwide protests; 9 citizens arrested in various cities

HRANA News Agency – In recent days, nine citizens were arrested by security forces during nationwide protests in the cities of Mazandaran, Qazvin, Tehran, and Chabahar. One of these citizens was transferred to Evin Prison.

According to HRANA News Agency, citing the country's student union councils, four students were arrested in recent days.

The identities of these students are stated as “Mehdi Velayati, a bachelor’s degree student in chemical engineering at Babol Noshirvani University of Technology, Mirshahin Fatemi, a master’s degree student in cultural studies at the University of Science and Culture, Hamed Khalili, a master’s degree student in political science at the International University of Qazvin, and Mohammad Javad Khajovi, a cinema student at Pars University of Architecture and Art.”

Mehdi Velayati was arrested on Monday, October 11, in Mazandaran, Mirshahin Fatemi was arrested today, Tuesday, October 12, at his home in Tehran, Hamed Khalili was arrested more than 7 days ago, and Mohammad Javad Khajovi was arrested on Tuesday, September 19.

Among these students, Mohammad Javad Khajou has been transferred to Evin Prison.

  5 women arrested in Chabahar city

According to Hale Vash, on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, during nationwide protests, five women were arrested in Chabahar.

The identities of the three citizens are: "Fatemeh Baloch Kari, Mehrnaz Omarzai, 17 years old, who has a seizure disorder, and Sara Baloch, 20 years old."

The report quoted an informed source as saying, “The Chabahar Intelligence Department told the families of these detainees not to publicize the arrest until we release them on Saturday, October 29. However, they were transferred to Zahedan two days ago, on October 29.”

The source added: “Mehrnaz has a history of seizures and has suffered seizures several times in the detention center, including on October 11, due to lack of access to the medications she needs.”
