The uncertainty of "Ebrahim Parsamehr" in Ahvaz prison, a lawyer who represented Christian citizens

The continued detention of Ebrahim Parsamehr, a lawyer representing Christian citizens, has intensified uncertainty and concerns about his legal and human status.
Ebrahim Parsamehr, a lawyer who was pursuing cases of Christian citizens in Khuzestan province, was arrested on June 14, 2025, and has been held in detention in Ahvaz’s Sheiban prison for more than a few months. His family and human rights sources say that no official verdict or public trial has been published regarding his charges.
Parsamehr was arrested at his home and his home was also searched. Prior to his arrest, he was in charge of the cases of Christian citizens in Ahvaz, Izeh, and other areas of Khuzestan province, and has come to the attention of security authorities due to his legal and civic activities.
Some reports suggest that he was arrested for publishing an article about the Israel-Iran war, although no official evidence or definitive charges have been announced by the judicial authorities. His status remains described as “undetermined,” meaning his family and lawyers have no information about the legal process or the final verdict.
This arrest, along with similar arrests in Khuzestan, including those of Mohsen Taran, Sajjad Poursakhavot, and Milad Faghfouri, has heightened concerns among human rights activists. International and local human rights organizations have repeatedly warned against using the situation of uncertainty and denial of legal access to a lawyer as leverage to pressure people of conscience.
Parsamehr’s situation is a clear example of the challenges to religious freedom and judicial justice in Iran. The continued detention without transparency has raised new concerns about the human and legal rights of lawyers and activists representing religious minorities in Iran.
