Khuzestan people protest against the transfer of drinking water to Iraq

The people of Khuzestan are suffering from a lack of access to fresh water in 50-degree heat. Videos posted on social media show that the problem is not a lack of water, but rather the transfer of fresh water by the Islamic Republic to Iraq.
A group of Khorramshahr citizens gathered in front of the city's Grand Mosque on Friday, June 29, to protest the salinity of the city's water and the indifference of the authorities.
Participants in the rally told Iran's state news agency, IRNA, that the quality of the city's drinking water has become much saltier than in previous days and smells very bad in many areas.
Ahvaz Friday Prayer Imam and the Transfer of Drinking Water to Iraq
The drinking water situation in Ahvaz and Abadan is no different. To the extent that the Friday prayer leader in Ahvaz has said that “the people of Khorramshahr and Abadan are going through very difficult days, and the sad and upsetting scenes of drinking water queues do not deserve them.”
In his Friday prayer sermon in Ahvaz, Abolhassan Hassanzadeh advised people to be frugal in their consumption. In his speech, he referred to many events in the 40 years of the Islamic Republic and held the West and America responsible for the misfortunes of the Islamic Republic, but he remained silent about the protesters' criticism that "the drinking water of the people of Khuzestan is being transported through water mains to Iraq."
People in Khuzestan have posted videos on social media showing the transfer of fresh water from southern Iraq and the Basra region, while salty and polluted water is flowing in the pipes of homes.
Khorramshahr and Abadan are adjacent to Basra, a city where the Islamic Republic and the Revolutionary Guard Corps have high influence.
Other videos posted by social media users about Iraqi television reports in which Basra citizens thank the Leader of the Islamic Republic for transferring drinking water from Khorramshahr to Iraq.
