Revelation about the emergence of a new prince: Mohammad Hossein Chamran, son of Mehdi Chamran

Province Wire: The Memari News website has published a note revealing that in 2015, one month before the audit file of the Abbas Abad Renovation Company was reviewed in the public session of the Tehran City Council, senior municipal officials issued a decree appointing Mohammad Hossein Chamran, son of Mehdi Chamran, the head of the capital's city council, as the "Deputy of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Abbas Abad Renovation Company."

In a note titled "The Secret of Mehdi Chamran's Silence," Yashar Soltani, while noting that Mohammad Hossein Chamran, "the son of Mehdi Chamran, was born in 1987 and was appointed as the head of the urban development department of this company in October 2015," emphasized that this appointment was made just one month before the audit of the Abbas Abad Land Company in the closed session of the Tehran City Council, a council chaired by Mehdi Chamran.

In this note, the illegal actions of the Tehran Municipality in the Abbas Abad Renovation Company are described as “financial rebellion by the Tehran Municipality,” and the Memari News website emphasizes that the appointment of Mohammad Hossein Chamran, the son of the chairman of the Tehran City Council, has caused the review of the audit file of this company affiliated with the municipality to be stopped, as “the financial performance of the former mayor of Tehran had already been stalled in Mr. Raees’s desk drawer. No one is yet aware of the 320 billion tomans of Ahmadinejad’s unnecessary expenses.”

The Memari News website, noting that “there are not many similar names among municipal managers. Names that trace back to a former manager or commander, children of city council members who hold positions in the municipality, or relatives of some of the preachers,” emphasized that “some of the names on the list of city managers are cause for concern,” and one of these names is “Mohammad Hossein Chamran, the name of Mehdi’s father,” who “has been appointed as the head of the deputy for architecture and urban planning of the Abbas Abad Renovation Company since October 2015.”

Accordingly, Mohammad Hossein Chamran was born in 1987 and received his bachelor's degree in architecture from Tehran Central Azad University in 2000. The date of his master's degree from Payam Noor Shargh University has not yet been registered in the company's system. Before joining Abbas Abad Company, he taught in educational complexes and was appointed as the deputy deputy for urban development of Abbas Abad Renovation Company in 2012. However, in October 2015, just a month before the company's audit reports were reviewed, he was promoted in the Tehran City Council and appointed as the "Head of the Deputy for Architecture and Urban Development of Abbas Abad Renovation Company."

Mehdi Chamran, however, responded in an interview with Iran Newspaper, saying: “My son’s employment in the municipality has no effect on my performance.” The head of Tehran City Council, calling the Memari News website’s interpretation of his son’s appointment as deputy head of Abbas Abad Renovation Company and the company’s audit case “strange,” said: “It is interesting to me that this website wrote about my silence on the audit issue, while I have a very strong sensitivity towards Abbas Abad lands and have even explicitly stated my opposition to the construction of the Central Bank, Sepah Bank, and the railway building there. Of course, this issue is not from yesterday, and I am currently following up on the Abbas Abad lands. Because I believe that these lands should have cultural and tourism uses.”

Mehdi Chamran, stating that “the council’s auditors are sworn and independent, rejected any interference by the municipality, the council, and the employees of the Abbasabad Land Renovation Company in the audit results,” and said: “The green space of this area must be preserved at all costs, and this issue has nothing to do with the employees of this company, including my son, who is working as a supervisor in the company’s architecture and urban planning department.”

In response to Mehdi Chamran, the head of the Tehran City Council, the Memari News website wrote: “Mohammad Hossein Chamran’s documents and records show that he has neither presented any outstanding and worthy academic qualifications nor has any noteworthy research experience or work history. However, the son of the head of the Tehran City Council and nephew of martyr Mostafa Chamran, with this unacceptable record, has been able to leapfrog his way up the ranks – from teaching in a small private educational complex to heading the deputy director of architecture and urban planning in a huge company with widespread urban violations in Abbasabad, Tehran!”

The site emphasized that "Mehdi Chamran, the chairman of Tehran City Council, should know that public opinion will not reach a convincing answer or calm down simply by making such a claim and denial on his part, because existing evidence and evidence, as well as experience, show that in the city's management structure, not competence and legal regulations, but rent and relationships largely govern matters, and those who deny this issue must prove their claim using necessary and sufficient evidence and the entirety of their performance."
