Ukraine considers Iran's compensation offer for victims insufficient

Iran is responsible for paying compensation for the Revolutionary Guards missile attack on the Ukrainian plane. Experts estimate that the compensation will amount to $150 million. Ukraine considers the compensation offered by Iran for the Ukrainian victims to be inadequate.
Among the 176 victims of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' air defense missile attack on the Ukrainian plane were nine crew members and two other Ukrainian citizens. The Islamic Republic of Iran must pay compensation to the families of the victims. The amount proposed by Iran is considered insufficient by the Ukrainian government.
Reuters news agency published a report from Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, on the statements of the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the downing of the Ukrainian plane.
In an interview with Ukrainian television broadcaster 1+1 TV, Zelensky considered the Islamic Republic's proposed compensation to be paid to the families of the victims of the IRGC's missile attack on the country's passenger plane Flight 752 insufficient and demanded that Iran pay more compensation.
The Ukrainian president said: "As far as the Iranian side is concerned, they immediately offered us $80,000 in compensation for each family... This is a very small amount."
The announcement by the Ukrainian President comes at a time when the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have not yet officially informed the families of the victims about the amount of compensation.
Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the Ukrainian government is applying more pressure to get more compensation from Iran.
Black box inspection
In his interview with the aforementioned television broadcaster, the Ukrainian President also emphasized that the country is still waiting for the delivery of the black boxes from Iranian authorities.
The authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have so far made contradictory statements regarding the handover and examination of the black box data from this passenger plane. While some Iranian officials insist on examining the black box data from this plane in Iran, others have admitted to the lack of the necessary technique to examine the black box data inside Iran.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had previously announced that the Islamic Republic does not have the necessary technology to do this and that the examination of the black box data should be left to other countries, including France.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has estimated the damages from the IRGC's missile attack on the Ukrainian passenger plane at between $100 and $150 million.
