After Robert Malley, Ali Bagheri Kani also arrived in Doha; JCPOA revival talks in Qatar

After the arrival of Robert Malley, the US Special Representative for Iran, in Qatar, on Tuesday afternoon, Ali Bagheri Kani, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, also arrived in the Qatari capital Doha at the head of a delegation to participate in negotiations aimed at resuming negotiations to revive the JCPOA. Iran and the United States are set to begin indirect talks in Qatar on Tuesday aimed at finding a way to salvage Iran's nuclear deal with world powers.
Ahead of the arrival of the Islamic Republic of Iran's top negotiator in Doha, Rob Malley, the US special representative for Iran, arrived in Qatar on Monday night. The US embassy in Qatar announced Mr. Malley's arrival on Twitter, writing that he had discussions with Qatari officials about "joint diplomatic efforts to address Iran issues."
Iran and world powers agreed to a nuclear deal in 2015 that severely limited its uranium enrichment in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions. In 2018, then-US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal. With the coming to power of Joe Biden in the US, which coincided with the end of Hassan Rouhani's administration, talks to revive the JCPOA resumed, and these talks continued under the current Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's administration. However, a few months ago, the talks were suspended after the Islamic Republic insisted on removing the Revolutionary Guard Corps from the list of terrorist groups prepared by the US.
After a hiatus of several months, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell unexpectedly and suddenly arrived in Tehran on July 25 to resume negotiations. After a meeting of several hours with Iranian officials, he announced that negotiations between Iran and the United States would resume with the mediation of the European Union.
With the resumption of negotiations, Qatar was chosen to host a new round of nuclear talks to revive the JCPOA, and negotiations to lift sanctions are scheduled to be held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, starting on Tuesday, July 27.
As Saeed Khatibzadeh previously announced, these talks will be held indirectly and with "European Union facilitation."
