Australia's new human rights sanctions against Iran

The Australian government imposed new human rights sanctions against some elements of the Islamic Republic of Iran regime.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has violated the rights of the Iranian people for the past 43 years, subjected them to oppression and forced beliefs. Also, over the past year, after the start of the popular revolution, it has committed crimes that have shocked the people and leaders of other countries by killing freedom-loving and innocent people. For this reason, many Iranian officials have been listed as terrorist organizations by the European Union and human rights organizations and have been sanctioned.
According to the Associated Press, the Australian government also imposed new “human rights” sanctions on an Iranian police spokesman for alleged involvement in what it called “the repression of women who oppose the mandatory hijab law,” and on the head of the FATA police force for what it called “censorship of widespread protests.” Two television journalists were also included in the sanctions.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wang reiterated her claim against Iran on this issue and added that she supports the rights of the Iranian people: "We stand with the people and the new sanctions target those who oppress women and girls."
The European Union sanctions against Iran come at a time when Iranian officials have repeatedly dismissed statements by European Union officials regarding the human rights situation in Iran as invalid.
