Israeli military analyst: Brigadier General Fereydoun Mohammadi is responsible for deploying Iranian air defense systems in Syria and Lebanon

An Israeli military analyst who runs an "independent" intelligence site called IntelliTimes claimed on Monday, July 4, that Brigadier General Fereydoun Mohammadi Saqaei, a senior official in the Revolutionary Guards, is responsible for deploying Iranian air defense systems in Syria and Lebanon.

According to Ronen Solomon, director of Intel Times, Brigadier General Saghaei, deputy coordinator of the IRGC Aerospace Force, is in charge of deploying Iranian air defense systems in Syria and Lebanon.

The Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post quoted Mr. Solomon as saying on Monday that he had obtained the correct name of this senior Iranian military officer through contact with "American intelligence sources."

First, on July 10, hours after the airstrike attributed to Israel on the town of Hamidiyah in the Syrian port of Tartus, Saudi-affiliated media mentioned Brigadier General Saqaei by name.

On July 2, regional Arab-language media announced that a newly arrived military shipment from Iran had been targeted in an airstrike attributed to Israel.

Syrian state media reported that the attack destroyed several poultry farms and wounded two civilians, including a woman.

Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attack on Tartus, but it has always said that it will counter any action aimed at establishing Iran's military presence in Syria.

Although Israeli officials have not mentioned Brigadier General Saqaei as the person responsible for deploying Iranian air defense in Syria, the media coverage of the Iranian officials' names may mean that he is targeted by Israel.

Brigadier General Saghaei is the deputy to Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force.

Iran and Syria are two strategic allies with numerous military defense pacts. These pacts have been strengthened during visits by senior political and military officials to each other's capitals in recent years.
