The number of injured people in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad earthquakes has increased to 63.

The Governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad announced on Thursday, February 20, that the number of people injured in the earthquake in the city of Sisakht has increased to 63.

Hossein Kalantari described the damage caused by the earthquake as "serious" and said that "houses have been damaged between 10 and 100 percent."

The city of Sisakht, the capital of Dena County, as well as Yasuj, the capital of Kohgiluyeh Province, and Boyer Ahmad, witnessed an earthquake measuring 5.6 on the evening of February 19.

The earthquake occurred at 05:02 local time and its epicenter was reported to be at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Initial reports from the country's emergency organization indicated that 44 people, including four in Semirom and 40 in Dena County, were injured in the earthquake. However, the governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad announced that the number of injured had reached 63, although most of them were treated in Sisakht.

Mr. Kalantari also said that 25 of the injured have been taken to the hospital and that rescue operations are continuing.

It was previously reported that two of the injured were in critical condition.
