Shooting at Texas church leaves at least 26 dead

American media have reported that dozens of people have been killed and injured in an attack on a Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Police have put the death toll at at least 26.
The attack left at least 26 people dead and scores injured, according to the Associated Press, citing County Commissioner Wilson. The ages of those killed ranged from five to 72.
The perpetrator of the attack opened fire on the attendees upon entering the church, and then, according to officials, attempted to flee but was killed a short time later.
However, the sheriff of neighboring Guadalupe County said it was unclear whether the attacker was killed by police or took his own life.
An AFP report in this regard indicates that the attacker entered the church before noon on Sunday local time, while, according to eyewitnesses, 50 people usually attend the church's morning prayer service.
The news agency, citing local media, wrote that a two-year-old child was among the injured in the shooting.
US President Donald Trump, who is in Japan, immediately responded to the news by saying that the US Federal Police and law enforcement officers are on the scene and that he himself is following up on the matter from Japan.
In another response, the governor of Texas described the attack in a statement as an "act of evil."
