The Islamic Republic claims to have built a drone "specific to attack Haifa and Tel Aviv"

Kiomars Heidari, commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Army Ground Forces, claimed that Iran has designed an advanced long-range suicide drone "specifically for attacking Haifa and Tel Aviv," two important Israeli cities.

On Sunday evening, September 10, in a TV program on the Iranian Broadcasting System, Heydari said that the drone is called "Arash 2," which is a newer version of the "Arash 1" drone and has the "ability to recover multiple times until hitting the target."

Since its establishment after the Iranian Revolution, the Islamic Republic has not recognized Israel and has consistently threatened the United Nations member state and supported militant groups opposing it.

Israeli officials have also repeatedly warned about the Islamic Republic's drone capabilities and the sending of this type of weaponry to militant groups in the region, including Palestinian armed groups.

The commander of the Army Ground Forces, echoing the slogan of other Islamic Republic officials for the "annihilation" of Israel, emphasized that the new drone is "a unique bird built for this purpose."

Heidari did not provide further details about the Arash-2 drone, especially its range, but said: "Today we have drones with a strategic range and we also have a drone with a range of 2,000 kilometers."

In December of last year, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, referring to the increase in Iranian drone threats in recent years, revealed that the Iranian government had turned Qeshm Island and the Chabahar region into a military drone warehouse and was carrying out drone attacks from bases located in these locations.

He also said late last September that the Islamic Republic was training its proxy groups at the Kashan air base "how to use and guide drones," and that this base was "a key point in exporting Iran's aerial terrorism to the region."

Three months earlier, then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Iran had flown a "suicide" drone into Israeli skies from Syria or Iraq while Israel was fighting in Gaza.

However, Israel has prepared itself to counter the Islamic Republic's drones.

In late July, coinciding with Joe Biden's arrival in Israel, the country's military displayed laser weapons called "Iron Beam" to the US President, designed to counter the threat of Iranian drones.

Also in recent months, the sending of Iranian drones to Russia for use in Moscow's invasion of Ukraine has made headlines, although Biden administration officials have stated that Russia has encountered technical difficulties in using Iranian-made drones in its war against Ukraine.
