Khamenei: We will use sanctions to truly strengthen the country's economy

The Leader of the Islamic Republic, strongly criticizing the policies of the US government, has said that we are using sanctions to "realize the resilience of the Iranian economy."

Speaking to participants in a military ceremony via video conference on Monday, October 11, Ali Khamenei called members of the Trump administration "scoundrels" and said, "We will turn America's maximum pressure into maximum shame and a source of regret for them."

Since May 2018, after withdrawing from the JCPOA, the Trump administration has launched a maximum pressure project by imposing sanctions against Iran.

In recent days, after imposing sanctions on 18 Iranian banks, Trump administration officials announced that the maximum pressure project would be expanded to force the Iranian government to negotiate.

The application of maximum pressure over the past two years has led to a widespread economic crisis, a sharp increase in the dollar exchange rate, and a sharp decline in foreign investment in Iran.

In another part of his speech, the Leader of the Islamic Republic called for attention to the interior, saying: "We should not seek a cure abroad because we do not see any good or benefit from abroad."

Fundamentalist critics of the Rouhani government say that he is "looking outward" and waiting for events such as the results of the US presidential election to solve economic problems.

On October 30, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called this statement "false and distorted" and asked his critics to "not repeat" such statements and not to say that "the government is looking outward."
