Judgement quoting Ahmadinejad: Islamic Republic will collapse with Khamenei's death

Abdolreza Davari, a former advisor to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, says that Mr. Ahmadinejad believes that the Islamic Republic will collapse with the death of Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Iranian government.
In an interview published on Monday, April 13, on the Asr Iran website, Mr. Davari said that, on this basis, "one of the news items that is always followed in Mr. Ahmadinejad's private circles is the health status" of the leader of the Islamic Republic.
He has also said that Ahmadinejad welcomes the US attack on Iran, saying: "If America attacks and hits infrastructure, meaning water and electricity are cut off, this will be the beginning of the collapse of the Islamic Republic."
Mr. Davari declared the third factor in the collapse of the Islamic Republic to be "social unrest" and said that Ahmadinejad hopes that if the Islamic Republic collapses, he will "become the standard-bearer of political change in Iran" with the support of some foreign countries.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is now a member of the Expediency Discernment Council. Facing widespread protests over his administration's performance from 2005 to 2013, which critics say included widespread corruption and plunder of financial resources, severe repression of the opposition, and irregularities and fraud in the 2009 election, he has become a critic of Iranian government policies in recent years.
