15-year-old girl, victim of child marriage, ends her life

A 15-year-old girl who was a victim of child marriage ended her life in the city of Khoy.
Yesterday, Thursday, July 12, a 15-year-old girl named "Raheleh Rahdar" from the Qatur district of a village in Khoy, who had been forced into marriage a few months ago by family pressure, committed suicide by hanging herself in her father's house.
At the age of fourteen, she was forced to marry under family pressure, and after seven months of living together, she and her husband began to have problems. After these problems escalated, she returned to her father's house, where she also faced disagreements on this issue from her family, which ultimately led to Rachel's suicide and death.
The issue of child marriage has long drawn widespread reactions from human rights activists, child rights activists, and civil society. The issue of child marriage is incompatible with the physical and psychological problems of children and has led to multiple violations of the rights of children and women.
Every year, we witness the sacrifice of many children who have become victims of child marriage. They have either ended their lives themselves or have been murdered by their spouses or families. The Islamic Republic system, which keeps people under the cover of religion, has not conducted any judicial follow-up or investigation into this issue and does not deal with it; because according to Islamic jurists, the marriage of a child even under the age of 9 is permissible and unhindered with the consent of the father.
