UN Secretary-General calls for end to Israel-Gaza conflict

Antonio Guterres called for an immediate end to the fighting between Israel and Gaza, warning that it would fuel the growth of extremism in the region. An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council is scheduled.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres wrote on his Twitter account, referring to the deaths of civilians and innocent people in the last five days of clashes between Israel and the Gaza Strip, that these clashes will only lead to an increase in extremism throughout the region.
Five days have passed since the beginning of Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip and Hamas' rocket fire on various Israeli cities, and tensions in many Israeli cities between Israeli Arabs and extremist Jews have reached an unprecedented height. Counterattacks between the Israeli army and Hamas continue, and the situation in Israeli cities is tense.
Tunisia, Norway, and China have requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Sunday, May 16, regarding the clashes in Gaza.
Linda Thomas Greenfield, the US Permanent Representative to the United Nations, confirmed in a tweet that the meeting was to discuss the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
