Tehran Police Chief Suspends Order Against Officers Who Assaulted Female Citizen

ISNA news agency, citing the Greater Tehran Police Command Information Center, says that the order of Hossein Rahimi, the Chief of Tehran Police, regarding the events at the Police Park has been suspended.

As the Tehran Police Information Center says, the police chief himself has suspended this order: "Following initial investigations by the Fateb Inspectorate (Greater Tehran Police Command), Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi suspended his previous order to arrest and dismiss the two officers and made its implementation or suspension conditional on the completion of the investigations."

According to reports, during the deployment of Iranian police forces to "guide" a group of young citizens in the Police Park, at least two officers "confronted" a female citizen.

In a video of the incident that has been circulating on social media, police officers are seen beating a woman while she is resisting arrest.

The wide release of this film also brought widespread repercussions.

While the Tehran Police Command defended the officers' actions in the process of "guiding" citizens, it announced yesterday that "two of our officers were also dismissed from their positions due to inappropriate treatment of women in this park."

Every year, as the summer season arrives and temperatures rise significantly in different parts of the country, encounters between police forces and other officers with what are described as "improper hijab," "lack of hijab," "behavior that is against their dignity," "behavior that is against Sharia," or "behavior that is against public decency" increase.

These encounters can occur on the seashore, in green areas, mountains, or parks, and include various activities such as swimming, water play, and other issues.
