The price index in Tehran has increased by 42 percent.

Following the publication of information on the increase in prices of some goods by the Statistics Center, the Tehran Provincial Management and Planning Organization also announced that the price index in February had increased by more than 42 percent in Tehran compared to the same month last year.
According to a report published on the organization's website, Masoud Afshin, the organization's deputy director of statistics and information, said that households in Tehran province spent an average of 42.6 percent more than in February 2017 to purchase an "identical set of goods and services."
He also said that the meat and poultry price index has increased by 96 percent and the tobacco price index has increased by more than 111 percent.
Earlier, a report was published by the Statistical Center of Iran, which reported a sharp increase in the prices of some goods, including tomato paste, apples, and tomatoes, compared to last year.
On the other hand, the announcement of the meat price index comes while, according to some media reports and news published on social networks, the increase in red meat and chicken has been greater than the figures announced by the government.
