Tehran Mayor Says He Will Investigate "Rooftop Sales" Phenomenon

Following the publication of images and reports on social media about "rooftop shopping" in the Iranian capital, Tehran Mayor Pirouz Hanachi said he would investigate the issue.
The mayor of Tehran told IRNA on Tuesday, February 20, stating that no legal action has been taken against this phenomenon so far: "Implementing a light roof on the top floor of a building in a way that does not strengthen the building is not a new issue, but we will seriously pursue the issue of rooftop sales."
In recent days, reports and images have been published on some news websites in Iran indicating the construction of residential space with prefabricated housing and walls on the roof. According to these reports, the owners of these buildings have sold part of the roof space for this purpose.
It seems that the prevalence of such a phenomenon has occurred due to the increase in housing prices, coupled with high demand for it in Tehran, and the intensification of citizens' economic problems.
