According to FCNN, the forensic medicine department based at Evin Prison finally backed down in response to the hunger strike of political prisoner Hossein Ronaghi Maleki and ordered his hospitalization.
He had threatened to continue his hunger strike until his demands were met.
This political prisoner had been on a hunger strike since April 27, 2016, in protest against the denial of medical treatment by the prison guards at Evin Prison.
The family of this political prisoner says that he lost one kidney while in prison and that his other kidney is also infected.
Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, a blogger, was arrested on December 11, 2009 by the IRGC’s intelligence agents and, after 10 months of torture and interrogation in Ward 2-A of Evin, on October 13, 2010, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Branch 26 of the Reactionary Court. Among his charges was insulting Khamenei and Ayatollah Rouhani. This verdict was confirmed by Branch 54 of the Court of Appeal. As a result of the inhumane prison conditions and brutal torture by the intelligence agents, he suffered from various illnesses, including severe spinal injuries and the loss of one kidney, stomach bleeding, eye infections, lung and respiratory problems, and is about to lose his other kidney due to an infection in his only remaining kidney. It is worth noting that the regime’s repressive agents are holding him in Ward 7 of Evin Prison among ordinary crime prisoners in order to put him under more pressure.
It is worth noting that Amir Amirgholi, Saeed Shirzad, Afshin Baymani, Masoud Arab Choubdar, Farid Azmoudeh, Iraj Hatami, Behzad Tarahmi, Saleh Pichganloo, Mostafa Parvin, Saeed Sadeghifar, and Morteza Parvin are prisoners who are on hunger strike.
